Our wonderful handmade & vintage props!

Props, props and more props!

How many are too many?…… as far as we are concerned you can never have too many props, it’s what for us makes the photo booth so much fun! We also believe having lots of choices makes for LOTS more photo opportunities.

Being a maker and lover of vintage made it a no-brainer for many of our props as possible to be a combination of both. Many happy hours are spent planning, making and sourcing, to bring a little uniqueness to our beautiful booth.

Finding vintage treasure is always a treat, from specialists to charity shops, car boot sales and luckily my lovely neighbour who has his own vintage shop! For us using these timeless pieces is not only better for the environment, being able to reuse a well-loved, well-made piece of vintage history also adds an interesting edge to the finished photobooth print. As seen below…vintage props from the smallest vintage brooch on this handmade feathered headdress to our fabulous smoking jacket and everything in between!

Printing in black & white adds to the vintage charm!

These props for me have to be the most fun. I LOVE to make and Gertie very kindly aids me in my habit! Firstly, making them allows for a completely original set of props, they are tactile, well-made and easily repaired, so a big ✔️ for the sustainability box. Our handmade props are mostly crocheted, as seen below, our seaside props include ice-creams, the cutest cloud, delicious strawberries and the loved by all Steven SEAGAL! ( named by a lovely booth guest)

Always cheery some of our handmade seaside props!

We love a good theme too and will share more of these props in future posts, but for now we will leave with a sneak peek of our newest English Country props. (Currently in the making) We are very excited to share these with you and think they will be perfect for a summer events!

A 50’s inspired retro shoot!

The 50’s an age of fun! And we had plenty of fun on a sunny Wednesday in Weston-Super-Mare on the beach. I am always thrilled and excited to be asked to be involved in a styled shoot, I love seeing how it all comes together with an idea of a style/look that has been brewing inside some one’s head! This particular vision was the lovely Kate’s of The Candy Hat Company, Kate is based in Bath where she makes the most beautiful vintage headpieces.

This beautifully handcrafted hairpiece really evokes the 50’s style and for Kate became the starting point of all the elements for this nostalgic shoot!

Kate’s vision was to create a “1950’s style-seaside inspired, with swing dresses and a sprinkle of rockabilly” I think it’s safe to say that the vision in Kate’s head was pretty spot on!

DRESSES – These beauties with their twirly skirts, colourful petticoats and nipped in waists give the perfect 50’s vibe! Handcrafted by the fabulous Louise Rose Couture.

FLOWERS – Beautiful felt blooms handmade by lovely Carley of The Feltorium a colour coordinated posy for the bride and bridesmaids and pretty wrist corsages too.

See more of Carley’s felt creations here… The Feltorium

SHOES – These were so much fun, and went brilliantly with the 50’s theme! They can be customised for you by the fabulous Wedding Converse Co. I would so love a blue Gertie The Photo Bus pair!

Find your perfect pair here Wedding Converse

MAKE UP & HAIR – Completing the vintage look were these wonderful ladies who really brought the whole retro vibe to life there were lots of beautiful lashes, curly up/down do’s and lots of red lippy!

For all your wedding makeup needs see the lovely Rose Forrest.

And for luscious locks the equally lovely Hair by Amy~Marie.

PHOTBOOTH – Although my gorgeous Gertie is obviously not from the 50’s she added a certain something to this vintage shoot, she definitely helped with the fun at the seaside element! And of course her lovely handmade and vintage props were put to good use.

A crocheted sunshine and vintage straw boaters, added the little extra touches of fun and added to the seaside fun!61689097_863728553975990_4748334010722156544_n

It’s hard to resist these cute crochet pinwheels, handmade in pretty cotton another fun addition to our seaside themed props (Note to self must make one that spins round next time!)

All in all, it was the perfect day for a shoot! It’s always so lovely to meet new suppliers and to get to know them and their businesses. I can’t speak highly enough of all the lovely ladies involved it really was great fun and I think the fabulous photos are a testament to that.

PHOTOGRAPHY by the amazing Leesha her work is just beautiful check out more of her stunning images here… Leesha Williams Photography

The lovely Mel, Lily & Kiri.

I hope you enjoyed our little seaside jaunt’ and if you feel inspired to have a 50’s style wedding of your own lovely Louise of Louise Couture has written a blog post on just how to do exactly that!
